I came to Better Bodies in hopes to gain more strength, energy, and improve my overall health. Of course the weight loss and toning were my goal as well, just as other women my age so many times struggle with. I began working with Chris in January of this year. Not only have I seen tangible results as far as weight loss are concerned. 20 pounds have been melted away! I truly feel that this is directly reflecting upon the outstanding training I have received from Chris. At first I didn’t know what to expect because I hadn’t worked with a personal trainer before. However, I quickly realized Chris Lavon was the trainer for me. I was first impressed with his professionalism and very concise training methods. I had very clear goals I wanted to achieve and Chris made it possible. I respect Chris for his knowledge and his personality, he definitely motivates me. He knew my goals and would settle for nothing less than achieving them! Chris knows my limits, when to push the limits and I can’t emphasize enough how much Chris has motivated me. Not only has Chris streamlined my workouts, but he has always informed me of the end result while never over promising! Every single result that Chris has predicted for me has happened exactly when it was supposed to!!

Five years ago, I had gastric by-pass surgery. That first year I had lost 117 lbs. As the years passed, I gradually started gaining the weight back. I wasn’t paying attention to what I ate and I never was one to exercise. I gained nearly 50 lbs. back. At that point, I started getting scared because I had read awhile back that 80% of the people who had gastric by-pass surgery gained their weight back plus more weight. I was determined not to be part of those statistics.
In 2005, I joined Silverlake. I never went; there were always excuses. In the summer of 2007, I knew I needed to do something about my weight, and since I had no idea as to how I had to go about getting started, I inquired about a Personal Trainer. He saved my life! My Personal Trainer worked with me and explained how I needed to write down in a daily diary of everything I ate. He suggested that I try to keep my daily calorie intake to 1500 calories a day, and that I needed to eat small meals every 2 hours. He also suggested that I exercise regularly, and when I didn’t have a training session with him, I needed to do cardio exercises.
I wasn’t exactly the nicest person a year ago (my Trainer could tell you horror stories about some of our sessions!) But even through all of that, he stuck with me and was a very patient guy. I eventually figured out he knew what he was talking about. I followed my Trainer to Better Bodies. With his continued support and friendship, I have lost 100 lbs in a little bit over a year. I consider him more than a trainer. He is one of my best friends. I am truly amazed at what I have accomplished, but I have to give him 95% of the credit to my success. I am also grateful to the staff at Better Bodies for their support. They truly make me feel welcome when I walk through the door. If I had only known the secret to losing weight was through exercise plus keeping a daily food journal, I know I would have saved thousands of dollars on unsuccessful diet plans plus the heartache of being such an unhealthy and unhappy person. I still would like to lose about 50 more pounds. With my Trainer’s help and guidance, I know I will reach my goal.
THANKS TO BETTER BODIES, I HAVE A BETTER BODY!!

The pictures from our trip to Disney World told me it was time to change. My high blood pressure told me it time to change. A trip to the ER told me it was time to change. I was going to be 40, and I was in the worst shape of my life. So I got a Fitbit and started tracking my steps. I started tracking my calories. And I started working out on my own. Five months went by and I was still stuck in the mud, with virtually no weight lost.

In September 2014, I decided to start working with a personal trainer at Silverlake and Better Bodies. Initially I was meeting with Evan Proffitt once a week. However, as I started to feel better and realized a decrease in arthritic pain I started meeting him twice weekly. I chose to work with a trainer because I wanted to get the most out of my workouts. Having a trainer teaches me how to workout using proper body movements, prevent injuries, and helps keep me accountable. Over this time, I also started eating healthier, drinking more water, and adding in more activity outside of the gym setting. Over the past year, I have lost 100lbs, and I am now in a healthy BMI range. I feel healthier, stronger, and plan to continue leading a healthy lifestyle. There are many options available at Silverlake and Better Bodies, which help my family to be healthier with me.
